Carlos Vela issued an apology for not Attending Training Session

Mexican striker Carlos Vela issued an apology for missing a recent training session for Real Sociedad.

Vela has been hit by numerous cases of unprofessionalism in recent years. This has been starting to take a toll on his career at club and international level. It is not surprising that he has made only 47 appearances for the Mexican national team since his debut a decade ago. The striker has voluntarily missed a number of matches including the World Cup 2014. It appears that his lack of interest in playing for the national team is starting to translate into the club game as well.

Vela recently missed a training session for Real Sociedad in order to attend a concert. The action has caused a lot of discontent among fans and many of his teammates. This has forced the 27-year-old to issue an apology. His action also led to Real Sociedad asking the Mexican FA not to consider the striker for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches against Canada. Even though the actions took place a month ago, it was only recently that social media pictures revealed about the lack of professionalism from the forward. Vela has been in disappointing form throughout the campaign and has scored only four goals in 29 league appearances.

"I am aware that what I did was wrong. I take responsibility for my mistake as well as all the consequences. The fans showed their disapproval. I have much respect for them and I accept it. I must look toward the future and this shall not happen again. Before all this happened I had said that I was available for both Real and Mexico. They spoke and decided that I should stay here and not make the trip. I would have loved to have played with the national team,” said Vela.
