CELTIC CAN IMPROVE ON LAST YEAR AFTER FIRST 90 MINUTES OF SEASON

Whilst last season might have ended wonderfully for Celtic with the team being crowned Premiership champions, the season didn’t start that way. As most Hoops fans will remember, the season started Premiership started poorly for Ange Postecoglou’s side as Celtic lost 2-1 to Hearts at Tynecastle, despite Anthony Ralston showing a sign of the season he would have with a superb goal. Thankfully the season ended up being a triumph for the Hoops, but there was a lot of concern at the start of last season, and suffering a defeat in the opening game of the season didn’t help.

A bad start to the season doesn’t have to be fatal for a side, but it can knock the confidence of a club, and Celtic will be looking to improve on the team’s start to last season when the Hoops take on Aberdeen in the first Premiership game of the 2022/23 season at Celtic Park this Sunday. It might be a difficult game for the Bhoys, as Aberdeen have won every game of their Premier Sports Cup group stage fixtures, and have bought a lot of players under Jim Goodwin.

On the other hand though, none of the teams Aberdeen have played are anything like the quality of Celtic, and one of the Pittordrie side’s most important players, Liam Scales, will not be able to play as he is on loan from the Hoops. Ange Postecoglou’s side will treat the Pittodrie side with a lot of respect, and it should be remembered that they were the only team that Celtic didn’t keep a clean sheet in the Premiership against.
However, as it is ‘flag day’ at Celtic Park, and the stadium will be sold out, the Hoops will be out to put on a show as the fans return to the stadium for a league game for the first time since the middle of May.
