Celtic Interested In AEK Athens Player Vasilis Barkas

Scottish club is currently left without many options in goalkeeping as Fraser Forster and Craig Gordon as left the club. They have been seeking many alternatives for signing a new one to the club. As per the current reports of Daily Mail the Scottish club has made a move to Vasilis Barkas on this week.

Celtic was expecting Fraser to stay with the club but Scottish Sun earlier in this week has reported that he will be leaving to Southampton for the 2019-2020 season. He was given in loan from the Premier League club and has played an important part in helping the Scottish club to win the Premiership.

Vasilis Barkas is one of the targets of Celtic and other alternative include Joe Hart and David Marshall. The report on Daily Mail suggests the interest of Lennon on the player. He is currently playing for AEK Athens and his transfer value stands for £5 million. If the club likes him they will most likely sign him.
Lennon would not be preferring a loan move and he will be looking forward tomore of a permanent deal. With Fraser gone to Southampton when the loan term has ended Lennon will be more confident on signing a permanent deal. Many of the Celtic fans want Fraser to be back but the current position demands a permanent deal.
Barkas began his club career by playing for Atromitos where he stayed for three years. In 2016, he has interests from several clubs that included Aston Villa, Olympiacos and AEK Athens. In the 2019-2020 season for the club, he has acquired 10 clean sheets by playing in 20 games and thus have helped them from a disastrous tournament. Barkas seems like a good option as a permanent deal and if Lennon deems him to be good then he can be seen in the club for the next season.
