CELTIC SCRAPE AHEAD

Celtic managed to get a narrow 1-0 victory over Rangers, which propelled them to the top of the Scottish Premier League table. Rangers have been dominate since the start of the season, but have started to slip of late.

Celtic took full advantage of this poor form of Rangers in the last few weeks to get the 1-0 win, which enabled them to go top of the table. Celtic's Fraser Foster was instrumental in keeping the attack of Rangers aside from the Celtic goal, while Rangers dominated in the first half. However, Celtic came back with a win in the second half, as they were clearly the better team.

Their efforts were rewarded in the 52nd minute when Ledley scored from a header. Charlie Mulgrew put a delightful ball into the box, which was elegantly converted by Ledley. Both teams have now played 21 matches apiece, but Celtic have 50 points to the 48 points of Rangers. Celtic were largely disjointed in the opening few minutes, but it was something Rangers failed to take advantage of. Even though the troubled Celtic's goalkeeper a lot in the first few minutes, Rangers were clearly disappointed not to take the lead during this crucial time.

"I was doubting my own position and I'm sure a lot of fans were as well. But I kept believing in the players and we've turned it around, although there is still a long way to go. It was the best Christmas and New Year I could have asked for. I'm so proud of the players. Without being brilliant, it was a very good performance against a dogged Rangers side," Celtic manager Neil Lennon told reporters after the huge and important win. Thus, Celtic will be top of the table on New Year's Day, which is very crucial for the players psychology.
